Circuit Training

Image
is SOOOO NOT LIKE A CIRCUS! Eh wait. Let's cross that out. *ahem* Circuit training IS like a circus. It's FUN TO WATCH, but very TIRING to do. (The animals are forced to perform the acts I believe) Plus, a circus's stage is circle right? Circle stage Circuit is a path that forms a circle around an area, or a journey along this path.   (Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English) Circuit training: A combination of high intensity aerobics and resistance training designed to be easy to follow and target fat loss, muscle building, and heart-lung fitness. Oh yeah. I had circuit training earlier this morning, 7.05 am. I didn't plan on doing so, actually.  4 more friends said they'll be joining me this morning, but only 1 turned up. As predicted...  Circuit training. This was initiated by the only friend who came. And I was such a bimbo to not know what a circuit training is. Padahal kata budak sukan...   AND, we already learnt about it last seme...

One-Man Show

THIS. Is what I've been up to for the past few months until the extent of neglecting this blog. It's like an aerobic marathon with various styles; qigong, zumba, cardio kick, hip hop, and pilates.  My group had to present qigong . And we performed it outdoor, in a green, green, green environment. As early as 7.30 am, as requested by the oh-so-dearly lecturer, just a day before. Hectic, I must say. Very hectic. We didn't plan on performing outdoor so yeah, it was really hectic when you suddenly have to find a green spot to perform. Oh yeah... ANYTHING for the lecturer. Un fortunately, I wouldn't be performing on stage during this event. I held such a high position that performing on stage even for 10 minutes would result in a HUGE chaos. Yeah, I am that important... VERY IMPORTANT (pathetic) . I'm the freaking chairman's assistant .  And because of that fact no matter how good my steps are, I still couldn't be on stage. Terribly dis...

5 km Love Run

Image
Trust me. I had on layers and layers of clothes beneath that blue oversize free t-shirt. It was a charity run for Palestine, though I myself am not so sure in what way did we help Palestine. All I did was simply run . And walk , occasionally. Eheh. The main thing that got me attracted to join was because of the time. It was held during the night, which means that the hot, blazing, glaring Sun finished his working hours already. And that equals to...  NO SUNBURN! Budak tourism memang jaga kulit bak kata budak sport rec... I went with my three other friends, in which one of them I forced into doing so. Told them we'd come for the free t-shirt and then leave.  Ambil baju, makanan, kupon aktiviti, lepas tu balik...  But I ended up making them finish the 5 km as well. Though not at the same time.   I completed the run first among us. :) Dapat kad kuning, maknanya laju jugak kan?  Hahah. Oh, try to guess my mantra.... Come on baby. Run baby, RU...

The Ketaq Dude

Hi all. I've been frequenting the gym alone for quite some time now that I'm quite used to it. I gave up already on finding a gym mate as they kept on giving excuses at the last minute that most of the time I ended up going alone . (sigh)  Asking just anyone as a companion is not a good option either... Yes I do need guidance from someone that knows better but I realized that it really does depend on the other person itself. As much as I'm willing to learn, it really turns me off when the person is more keen on  showing off  rather than teaching. It's annoying, really. Oh by the way, the instructors at the gym are quite helpful, actually. So I've made a point to just ask them. It's their job anyway.  Okay back to the story. I arrived really really really  early at the gym yesterday morning. My name was second on the customers' list. And I was the first to sign out.  Because I was terrified of this one body builder who kept look...

Football Match, Oh Yeah.

Image
Yeah. Oh yeah, I went to watch a football match live in a stadium yesterday (Thursday). Stadium UiTM only...haha. Oh-so-near to college, and more importantly it was totally free! It was our own Harimau Malaya against Oman. Here's the story... I planned to go swimming but then a friend called and asked if I'd like to tag along. Football match? Oh okay sure. Something new. For me , that is. The first thing that came across my mind was, what should I wear? It was my first time going to a stadium to watch football, you see, so I was a bit anxious. I've only watched a game of football from my window back when I was in my first semester. And that was only their training. Haha. "Orang pergi tengok bola pakai baju apa?" I asked. They thought I was joking. "Pakaila baju biru"  They said. I had no idea why I had to wear blue. I had no blue shirt with me so I opt for a turquoise sweater instead. Oh. Now I know... (Google-ed) As a first timer, I co...

Sports First Aider

Completing 10 hours of medical cover is a requirement for this one subject I had this semester. I've to serve as a first aider at any sport events. Last week, I went to Kelana Jaya Stadium for this Majlis Sukan-Sukan Daerah (MSSD) sport event. It's a state level competition. Yes, they were all school children... And that brought back the many many memories of the good ol' school days I had. So yes. Let's go down memory lane, shall we... Back in my school days, I only cared about choral speaking, choir, public speaking, debate, and even pantun. Yup, all that. Not much of a physical activity, kan... MSSD? MSSN? MSSM? I don't even care about it. I know it's a sport event but I really couldn't care less. I cared about the schools' sportsman though. Eheh. Heh... Well basically, in a school, there must be this one hottie everyone had a crush on, right? It's either the head prefect or the schools' sportsman . Being a girl, I...

We are WOMEN too!

Image
In people's mind, when mentioned about sports science students, they would imagine sweaty, rough, tough, sporty sporty people. Women in the sports industry therefore are also expected to be all masculine and tough. JUST LIKE A MAN. Well, that's the perception of most people. Veet , a company selling hair removal products opened up a booth around our faculty today. Our faculty is actually sandwiched between the Administrative Science and Policy Studies Faculty and the Communication and Media Studies Faculty. S o you see, while we were dressed in track suits, the ladies from the other two faculties would mostly be dressed in a nice baju kurung, all smelling very nice with make-up faces and a pair of heels to match. But people people people, wearing track suits doesn't change our gender. We are still women. And as women, we still have that desire to look pretty... While visiting the booth (basically just to get the free goodie bag ) which is in front of the Communication and M...

2.4 km

10th January 2011, Monday. 11 am. My feet had the shock of their lives! 2.4 kilometers, man! I managed to finish those 6 laps only after 19.02 mins. *sigh* I know, I know... That's a terrible record, especially for a sports science student who is expected to be fit ... Okay, to tell the truth, I haven't been running or jogging at all for months! The last time I ran was during the interview, 18th April 2010, where I went through the bleep test. I know... It's like, lamo sangat kan... Eh eh... Okay why am I posting an incident that happened weeks ago? Eh, it's 25th January already and here I am blogging about something that happened 15 days ago? Oh well... *sigh* Simply because at first I thought it's not really important. And second, because I didn't feel like sharing it publicly before. I was too embarrassed of myself. Seriously. Like, TOTALLY embarrassed. Ahah! But now, I believe that that 2.4 km test was really really important and that I really...

The GYM

Image
is a scary place to go. Well, for me, that is. Went to the university's gym last Tuesday. I thought it's a Ladies Night so yeah, with full ease, without worry, I went with a friend of mine. But eh, as we arrived I saw loads of guys outside. Eh I thought it's Ladies Night? Oh rupanya bukan... Tomorrow night is the the Ladies Night. Yay. Total joy... Honestly, I began to freak out. BIG TIME. Dup.dap.dup.dap.dup.dap.dup.dap...dupdapdupdapdupdap! *The heart is beating faster* As we passed by the gym, I could see the inside *intai-intai* between the curtains. Full of guys, man! Like OMG! Dupdapdupdapdupdap... Scary, I tell you... But the gym is nice, though. It looked clean and well equipped, a big contrast to the building itself. From the outside, it looked not more than just an old building, but the inside is just oh-so-cool! Don't judge a book by it's cover, true true... Seeing from the outside freaks me out big time. Being inside , eventhough on...

Why Malaysia Won The Suzuki Cup

Image
GOAL...! Indonesia 2. Malaysia 1. "Haa... Kan mak dah cakap, jangan seronok sangat. Anything can happen bila-bila je..." *Indonesia perlukan tiga lagi gol untuk menjulang Piala Suzuki...* (sports commentator) "Eh, nape dia kata Indon kena dapat lagi tiga gol untuk menang?" Because you see mum, this final match, they have to play on a home and away format. So they have to play both in Malaysia and Indonesia. In Malaysia, we won 3-0. And though in Indonesia we lost 2-0, but the total goals we managed to get was 4, and Indonesia 2. That's why. "Eh haritu kan kita kalah 5-1 dengan Indon" "Itu lain, mak... Match lain." She's not the only who just came to know about it. Ni, Bashtiah ni pun sama ja... Eheh. Heh... And I dare tell you that I'm a sports science student. And as for mum, she's a sports science diploma holder. Ahah! Well I guess some girls just don't pay that much attention to football like you guys did. Football player...

The Gorgeous Weightlifter

Image
Women athletes have less feminity compared to non-athlete women. Women involved in sports only dress like men. Women involved in sports look like a man. Woman + Sports = 100 % masculinity WRONG! That. Is. A. Stereotype. This gorgeous lady down here is actually a weightlifter. YES. A freaking sweaty weightlifter ! And she looked not even close to a man. I'm not sure how men would define woman but she does look woman enough. Matching earrings and necklace. She's woman enough for me. Marilou Dozois-Prevost Representing Canada, she won gold in the women's 53 kg division at the recent Commonwealth Games held in New Delhi, India. Cool aite? This is what we call 'Beauty with Strength'. Pictures of her weightlifting during the recent Commonwealth Games. Determination. Notice that lovely earrings? 182 kilograms. (No, not the earrings. I meant the weight is 182 kg.) Who says you can't be stylish while lifting such a heavy weight? Not all women involved in spor...

Running Away from the Gold Medal

'We have a moral obligation to prevent the exploitation of high school students... When the game ends and the glory fades, the educated students will be the ultimate winners.' - Marina Chin , Principal of Bukit Jalil Sports School and former sportswoman. I went to this seminar 'SUKAN UNTUK SEMUA' last Thursday and Marina Chin was one of the speakers. Okay, honestly, I was actually forced to go to this talk. So I didn't really plan on focusing on the talk at all. But because I was sitting at the FRONT row, I had to focus. Or at least pretend to focus. Heh. But for this talk... 100% focus okay! Er, well... Maybe 99%... Distractions, distractions! Marina Chin was a famous sportswoman during the early 70s , in sprinting and hurdling basically. She was Malaysia 's fastest woman sprinter that time and now, she 's the principal of the famous sports school in Malaysia, Bukit Jalil Sports School. She gave a talk on the effect of sport...
