Loofah lady

Image
My morning routine these days would be going around the garden to check on my loofah plants... Usually while carrying baby Alisa. See if there's any flower buds, and if there is, is it a male or female flower... Yes, to that extent. Alhamdulillah, I've learnt quite a lot on loofahs now. I joined a loofah planting group on Facebook, which helped a lot. I'm still out of the pool now. Swimming is already allowed for us peeps in Phase 1 but the place I teach at still didn't want to open the pool. Okay now back to loofahs.. I've gathered quite a lot, really. During these lockdown times... My husband then gave me a nickname... Loofah lady. Sofia then added... Sofia loofah girl. Alisa loofah baby. Papa? Papa loofah handsome. By the way, I've opened a shop in Shopee, selling seeds. Do check it out - garden cantik .

Make anything into food mode

Image
Yeah, hi. Good morning. It's MCO day 27 now. My mum's into that mode now. How her brain works in turning just about anything into food is a wonder to me. Experience, maybe. While she was cooking it I was actually thinking seriously we can eat this? Okay, it's just like kerabu kan. It's not like we'd die eating this. Bersabar dengan dia yang tambahkan cheese to make it look more gourmet.... It all started when my mum decided to harvest whatever that can be harvested from our garden. Apparently, there's a papaya tree at the back of our garden. No one planted it - tumbuh sendiri dan berbuah lebat pulak... Mum decided we should chop it down since it does look like it's going to fall. Buah betik dan daun yang dikatakan boleh dimakan (walaupun buah tu hijau). I, honestly, didn't have the slightest idea what to do with them. Buah betik yang masih hijau... dan daun betik. Okay, I do know that the leaf can be eaten like ulam although I've never tried it...

Our new tool: Fujimoto brush cutter

Image
We finally bought a brush cutter! Fujimoto brush cutter. We bought it for only RM 450 at a shop in Kajang, in front of Maybank. We've been using the Bosch grass trimmer all these while to trim our lawn. It worked pretty well despite being only a grass trimmer (we use it more like a cutter, cut the whole lawn!) but the only problem is it works using electricity. So there were some spots that were not reachable. We even had to use 3 extensions at one time! We've tried using the coil extension before, the one with one plug and goes round and round. Somehow it got overheated and the cable inside melted... Wuu... So scary... Besides our lawn, we also wanted to clear up the bushes outside our house. Hence the brush cutter.  So far I think it is a good purchase. It operates using a mix of petrol and another type of oil (minyak tuti? Not so sure what other people call it).

Butterfly pea flower (Bunga telang)

Image
Butterfly pea flowers (layered ones on the right). You can also see glimpses of the white ones. We have butterfly pea flowers in abundance in our garden! Once you plant them, they are unstoppable! Especially during rainy seasons, they will spread around like mad, climbing over anything around them, crawling all over. We have three types; purple single layer, purple layered , and white . The layered ones are very pretty they looked like roses! We would pluck the flowers and dry them out in the blazing sun for days before storing them away. These flowers are full with antioxidants. A lot of benefits have been scientifically proven and some even stated it benefits woman the most, in terms of fertility and your menses. They are good for your hair too. I can't remember what brand, but there is one product that use these flowers as one of the main ingredient in their shampoo. Oh, they are also used in nasi kerabu , too! As for me myself, I drink this to clean my body f...

THE Nursery

Image
Yeah. This is THE Nursery. Siapa sangka di rumah teres ada kedai bunga macamni.  Remember the nursery I mentioned here ? Well, we went there again yesterday to get the new stocks she just uploaded on Facebook. There, at the nursery we met one customer who came all the way from Ampang. This nursery is in Selayang, by the way. And oh, just few days ago, a nursery owner from KEDAH came. KEDAH to SELAYANG.  Zoom in a bit at the entrance. Soils soils soils...  Here's a deeper view inside. See? It's totally a NURSERY!  This lady certainly put shame to those people with empty big lawns. At least, well, at least we could have planted vegetables, right?

My first four pots

Image
telah terjual! Makcik Min came just now and bought 4 pots of my japanese roses. Mum sold it for RM3 each. Flowers still hasn't come out, but she still insisted on buying.  Wah... Alhamdulillah. RM12. Divided it with younger brother, each got RM5 and RM2 goes into the gardening account. Why save only RM2? Because when you spend more for yourself you invest more on the business. Pulak dah? Hahah! Well.. Basically you must feel and indulge in what you get first, then only you are more motivated to work. Right? See the polybags. All those are japanese roses. The flowers still hasn't bloom but soon, yes, soon...
