Taking Sofia on the MRT

Image
The three of us finally went on the MRT. We went on 2nd September, just two days after the promotion ended. At first we planned on getting on the train for just two or three stations, no particular destination. But then we thought alang-alang let's just go further a bit. We don't always go on the train nowadays, and I also don't always have a free weekend. So we decided to go to Bukit Bintang . There were two choices of Bukit Bintang station, ticket fares also differ. We were quite confused as what are the differences, Bukit Bintang and Bukit Bintang (MRL) . MRL obviously stands for monorail, right? Anyhow we bought the Bukit Bintang (MRL) one which costs a little bit more than just Bukit Bintang. I'm guessing it must have included a monorail ticket because from the same station back to Kajang, it was only around RM 4. Kajang to Bukit Bintang (MRL), RM 5.60 one way/ single journey per person, for adult. I purposely asked for a receipt to keep a rec...

KFC Buntong, Ipoh. Nice place.

Image
Sometimes, you just have to look up from your phone to discover amazing places. My husband, Sofia, and I were at Ipoh for a wedding. Arrived at the venue around 3pm and the event already ended (read: no more food). So we decided to get something to eat. Sofia fast asleep, my husband went out to buy food. Sofia on my lap, my eyes fixed on my phone, scrolling through Hanis Zalikha's Instagram; they went to Maldives, stayed at Soneva Jani. I Google-ed Soneva Jani first, oh in Maldives rupanya... Haha. Eventually, my husband came back to the car with food. And I finally looked up from my phone. While he was reversing the car, I spotted a very nice outdoor eating area. Wait? IS THAT KFC's EATING AREA? Cool gila KFC ni! They have an outdoor eating area with red patio umbrellas!  There were also a lot of pigeons eating, er.. KFC leftovers? Hahah. Anyway, we decided to just eat there. Sofia already woke up by the way (at the smell of food). Thinking it would be a great exp...

Nasi Bamboo Sungai Klah- Membungkus

Image
Nasi Bamboo Sungai Klah is a famous place in Sungkai, Perak (otw to Slim River). It is always jam packed EVERYTIME we pass by that area. Cars parked alongside the road despite them having a large parking space in front of it. Except on Fridays of course since it is closed. The day we went, Tuesday (29th August), there were still cars parked alongside the road but not as many as we've seen before. Tried our luck to park inside and Alhamdulillah ada.  Sofia was sleeping soundly in her carseat... Not wanting to waste a chance, we decided to just carry her inside. WOW! It is huge..! Imagine a foodcourt. Well, it IS like a foodcourt. There were separate counters for the nasi bamboo, lauk-pauk (there's even kambing bakar!), drinks, and also for goreng-gorengan like pisang goreng and keropok lekor. There is also a gift shop! Not really a physical store, but more like a booth.  Rice wrapped in a leaf in a bamboo. That's what you will get if you dine-in. One nasi bamb...

Volunteering for MYCAT at Zoo Negara

Image
Well so yesterday I managed to drive all by myself alone to KUALA LUMPUR oh yeahhhh! Alhamdulillah... First, mum trusted me. Second, I got the wrong Cheras junction but I made sure mum didn't know. Third, I didn't turn on the radio at all. Pergi balik zikir all the way. Sebab takut sesat dan eksiden. Berguna. Ya, betul berguna. Zikir. Truth is, I really wanted to take public transport so I have time to write my 2015 resolutions while in the train. *********** I was happy. Very happy to be at the zoo. A lot of things has changed. The Education Department Office is no longer at the very end, it is now in the same building with the Customer Service Department. Went to the guard house, parked at the staff parking lot. Heh. Heh. I am afterall a volunteer... I assured myself. I was all ready to walk to the ol' Edu office but then I was stopped by En. Amin. Then I noticed the signage. Ohh... The dusty ol' library is now the office. Told him I did my interns...

Football Match, Oh Yeah.

Image
Yeah. Oh yeah, I went to watch a football match live in a stadium yesterday (Thursday). Stadium UiTM only...haha. Oh-so-near to college, and more importantly it was totally free! It was our own Harimau Malaya against Oman. Here's the story... I planned to go swimming but then a friend called and asked if I'd like to tag along. Football match? Oh okay sure. Something new. For me , that is. The first thing that came across my mind was, what should I wear? It was my first time going to a stadium to watch football, you see, so I was a bit anxious. I've only watched a game of football from my window back when I was in my first semester. And that was only their training. Haha. "Orang pergi tengok bola pakai baju apa?" I asked. They thought I was joking. "Pakaila baju biru"  They said. I had no idea why I had to wear blue. I had no blue shirt with me so I opt for a turquoise sweater instead. Oh. Now I know... (Google-ed) As a first timer, I co...

Oh So Patriotic!

Image
In response to 360 on TV3. But first of all, Happy Belated 54th Birthday Malaysia ! The TV show started by showing kindergarten children waving Malaysia flags while wearing their sort of patriotic school uniform (red and white). The reporter asked three children, "Apa erti merdeka..." All three children interviewed gave almost the similar answer, "Bebas dari jajahan/pengaruh orang luar" I bet if asked in detail they sure couldn't explain more. I'm afraid they don't even understand what 'jajahan' means. But putting all that aside... They are still children. The eldest would be, err maybe 6 years old? So yeah, couldn't put the blame on them. The owner of the kindergarten, as I've seen on TV, looked like he believed he has succeeded in instilling much patriotism in those children. Excuse me if I made a wrong, biased judgment, but it seems like he believed he himself is very patriotic. If you're so patriotic, why not name the kind...

Mother Tongue

The one thing that always held me from writing a post is the lack of English proficiency that I have. Dah tu gatal-gatal tulis blog dalam Bahasa Inggeris buat apa... Proficiency  itu apa? Let me explain. In my own understanding. Proficiency: Kebolehan, kemahiran, skil. Lack of proficiency=kurang kemahiran. Yes I do write in English but I certainly don't speak in English ALL THE TIME. Writing, I believe is just one way for me to improve my English language. Because everytime I didn't know any words, I'd have to look it up in the dictionary to avoid mixing Malay and English Language. Bahasa Rojak is soooo uncool... At formal events it makes you look unprofessional. I admit there are times when I mixed both language, though. Mixed marriage (Google) But ever since starting i-Renang, the swimming company, I began to realize that I'm having problems in Malay Language as well. Too much writing in English makes me feel awkward when I have to write in Malay. I fou...

You Kahwin Dengan I, You Dapat Duit.

Image
Hi readers. Imagine getting married and receiving incentives out of it. Cool, right? Sudahla tambah isteri, dapat duit lagi~ Heaven lah for men. For Malaysians, I’m sure you’re aware already of this issue. A few days ago, Kelantan’s government suggested that any man in Kelantan who took a widow as their second wife would be given an incentive. When I first heard that, I was outraged! VERY outraged! It’s as if those single mothers are THAT desperate of having a husband until the government had to give an incentive to man who marry them. What’s the difference between them and prostitutes then? Okay this might be way too harsh but come on, we women are not.that.desperate.for men. When the government offered incentives to those who took widows as their second wife, somehow it also questions the real intention of the man marrying the widow. "Abang kahwin dengan Yah sebab nak dapat duit ke sebab nak jaga Yah dengan anak-anak Yah ni? Cakap bang, cakap!" I know, I know... The...

A Message For The Acid Splashers...

Image
Dear Acid Splashers, It's been fun going around Klang Valley in a motorcycle, right? I know you guys had real fun... If it's not fun, your activity wouldn't have continued for almost THREE months since the first time you played the splashing splashing acid game. I've heard that you use a plastic bottle to fill in the acid-like liquid before splashing it on us women. Hey mister, I have an even better idea. Fill the liquid in a water pistol lah ... Much easier for you to carry around. And then you can attack more women. Sambil lalu sambil tembak. Much easy, right? Then you don't have to waste time opening the cap and all. A water pistol is not that expensive, you see... Go on, get one. Or you can even buy two of them. So you can attack more women. Both right and left side. Much more effective, I tell you... Dear Acid Splashers, This is just an idea. It still depends on you whether to accept my suggestion or not. It's just an idea. Well, I just thought after 20+ v...

Why Malaysia Won The Suzuki Cup

Image
GOAL...! Indonesia 2. Malaysia 1. "Haa... Kan mak dah cakap, jangan seronok sangat. Anything can happen bila-bila je..." *Indonesia perlukan tiga lagi gol untuk menjulang Piala Suzuki...* (sports commentator) "Eh, nape dia kata Indon kena dapat lagi tiga gol untuk menang?" Because you see mum, this final match, they have to play on a home and away format. So they have to play both in Malaysia and Indonesia. In Malaysia, we won 3-0. And though in Indonesia we lost 2-0, but the total goals we managed to get was 4, and Indonesia 2. That's why. "Eh haritu kan kita kalah 5-1 dengan Indon" "Itu lain, mak... Match lain." She's not the only who just came to know about it. Ni, Bashtiah ni pun sama ja... Eheh. Heh... And I dare tell you that I'm a sports science student. And as for mum, she's a sports science diploma holder. Ahah! Well I guess some girls just don't pay that much attention to football like you guys did. Football player...

I'm No Kelantanese

but I'm starting to love Dikir Barat! I believe most Kelantanese love Dikir Barat... It is, afterall, their culture. Dikir Barat in my understanding is a type of traditional musical form which is performed in groups where they will sit crossed-legged on a platform. It is most popular in Kelantan. The melody and rhythm is usually the same (I think) for every song. Do correct me if I'm wrong, but so far that's what I notice. Do visit this blog for more information, okay. Kumpulan Dikir Barat Titih Pusaka UiTM Shah Alam. (Free promotion. Yes, I know you guys appreciate this but, NO, I DO NOT wish to have a song dedicated to me. Thank you very much. Heh.) I could hear them from my room now. I'm not sure where they are but it IS loud enough for me to hear them clearly from my room on the 8th floor . But I wonder if they are using microphones... Though I couldn't really understand the Kelantan dialect but I still enjoyed listening. It's actu...

Mentality

Mentality is a particular attitude or way of thinking, especially one that you think is wrong or stupid. (Oh oh... While searching for the word mentality in my Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, I found this word "siege mentality" . Check out the meaning! So cool... Seriously. Well, I think so... Heh.) I went out shopping for groceries just now... And such a disappointment! Such shame... Remember my post on lost items in the supermarket ? Okay... Not to repeat the same thing, but you see... This time things are worst. There are loads more misplaced items compared to other places. Alaa... It's not even misplaced. People purposely place the items there. You see, this time in ECONSAVE I found a plastic of fishes between boxes of cereals . And Twisties between tins of sardines... A packet of sugar on a toothpaste rack... The list goes on and on and on. Judging from the type of cars at the parking lot, I could say these people who came shopping here were not from...

Touched.

Image
Happy, happy innocent kids... I just HAVE to write about this random act of kindness! Okay, okay... So what is it that made me really touched that it actually moved me off the couch and rushed me to my laptop? (When I was already halfway to dreamland~) A TV SHOW. Yes, a TV SHOW . I just watched the tv show Bang Bang Boom on TV3 and there was this one segment called “Terima Kasih”. Terima Kasih means Thank You, in English. Okay, honestly I’m not really a fan of Bang Bang Boom but somehow... Mum's watching, so I joined in- lah . Now, back to the random act of kindness ya. The story’s like this; One man (Bang Bang Boom’s crew) went around asking for people to buy him a RM 12.90 worth of fabric (In which he planned to make a new baju raya for his daughter) in exchange for the bubur lambuk (A type of porridge) that he’s selling. There were only about 2 or 3 packs of bubur lambuk in his basket so you see the porridges were totally not worth that amount. It wasn’t even close to ...
