Melemang first time!

Image
Pertama kali bakar lemang. A post on what I learnt from my first experience making lemang from scratch...  Beli buluh yang dah siap ada daun pisang dalamnya! Because... You gotta have SKILLS to insert the pandan leaf inside the bamboo. Ya, ada caranya... Try to Google 'cara masukkan daun pisang dalam buluh' . There is a specific way to insert it. We're not skillful yet so it was a hassle to insert the banana leaf inside the bamboo! No wonder my mum made a BIG FUSS when we bought only the bamboos... I was thinking apa susah... Mana-mana pun ada jual, kebun pisang also got around our neighbourhood...  Got to have a frame/ pancang bakar lemang. We already prepared the fire woods earlier (we trimmed our rambutan tree few weeks ago) but the iron rods for the frame? We kind of forgot about that. So earlier in the morning, Iz went around the neighbourhood asking for iron rods...  The ingredients are CHEAP. Yang buat mahal tu MASA... The current price of lemang sebatang is abou...

A story of the past: My Home, Is In My Car 2

Before we even knew it they already took away our fuse box, leaving a red rectangular spot on the wall. Our house was previously painted red. We couldn't take out the fuse box when we painted our house green so we decided to only paint parts which reachable, visible, and touchable by the paint brush. I told you this just so you didn't assume that we borrowed money from any 'Along'. Well, we did borrow money from my mums' eldest sister, but we never borrowed money from any illegal money lender cum gangster. The red spot was caused by us; no gangster whatsoever had marked our house with red paint. As I stared into the darkness, I wondered how I would live in here without electricity. It was too dark inside. I couldn't even see clear enough when it was bright, what else was left for me in the dark? How in the world could I bathe and you know, do all those things in darkness? Plus, my handphone and laptop feeds on electricity. When both of them didn't get enoug...

A story of the past: My Home, Is In My Car 1

Found these writings stored neatly in a file, printed not handwritten. I think I wrote them for a writing competition. But really, I am so grateful I did decided to write them down. Hard times exists to make you stronger, and by going through the past, it reminds you how strong you were. *It's actually quite lengthy, 4 pages. I'm going to make it into several posts konon-konon like a K-drama* My Home, Is In My Car I love to travel. I wish I could spend all my life visiting new places instead of being stuck at home. I wish I lived my life in a suitcase, because then I will not have to worry about forgetting things to bring. I don't have to pack, re-pack, and pack again just so I could bring every single item in my house. I am, after all, a girl. My beauty regime should not be put aside at all times. Moisturizer, sun block cream, cleanser, toner, foundation, blusher, and even mascara- I need them all! When I travel, I travel in style. Who knows I might just bump into some ric...

My first TV shoot | Chiki Boom

Image
MY VERY FIRST TV DEBUT! Yes, I'll be on tv! OMG seriously it took me quite some time to settle down. Like, to finally digest what happened few days ago. I was still anxious, excited, terkesima, what else? It still hadn't really occur to me that thousands of people will be watching me in my swimsuit. Yeah, I'll be on tv in my swimming suit. So if you wanna see me in action in my swimming suit, tune in to TV2 on Sunday 10am around May. Boom boom chiki chiki boom~ Seriously, I couldn't really believe it when mum said RTM wanted to shoot at our centre. Coz come on... We just opened our centre July last year. Belum setahun lagi and you wanna put us on tv? But well, yes. Alhamdulillah. They came to recce our centre, even came another time during class to see how we conducted our class. There is something unique about our training style that got them attracted. I NEVER EXPECTED TO BE THE ONE ON TV. Along the way, we IRenang team kept on discussing how our founder/ h...

Tiada yang mustahil di Semporna: My personal insight

Image
Pulau Bum-Bum, Semporna Too good to be true I thought it was a scam, until Tuah send me the ticket itinerary and Iz confirmed the ticket with AirAsia. Alhamdulillah. Ruang dan peluang, rezeki dan nikmat. IRenang got invited all the way to Semporna to conduct an aquatic therapy and swimming program for students in Pulau Bum-Bum, Semporna, Sabah . All four of us went to Semporna, all expenses paid for two . Y ou may read more details on the program at IRenang's blog . Tiada yang mustahil di Semporna... Is a tagline given by Tuah, a very dedicated teacher in SK Terusan Tengah who is in charge of this whole program. He rebranded his remedial class to Akademi IQ and conducted weekly weekend out of school program for his 11 students. Ours was the last session for the year 2016. His dedication, how he went out of his way for all his students might put some teachers to shame. I've never met a teacher so dedicated and committed as he is. 5 Days 4 Nights in Semporna....

Featured in Dara.com

Image
So I was the Gadis Pilihan for Dara.com magazine January 2015 issue. Felt a bit shy of blogging about it hence the delay... I finally decided I should blog about it to just remind myself of my achievements. So I'd be more thankfull... I didn't want to get stuck in past achievements, that's why. Because my fiancè used to say, their coach always reminded them to not let past achievements be their marking stone. But then again, I always feel like I haven't achieved anything when actually being featured in a magazine itself is actually a big achievement. So there. Here's a short post on the feature. Well, the journalist approached me in an unusual way. The first thing she asked was my age. It was around November last year I think, basically just a few months before I hit 26. The fact that I am 25 makes me eligible to be in the mag. Ha-ha. I really consider myself lucky as I found out soon (when I bought the mag) that Dara.com is targeted for girls until 25 year...

Basketball Sesh: Of learning something new

Image
Public holiday in Malaysia for Thaipusam. Well today I managed to cross out one thing out of my 101 THINGS TO DO IN 2015! Learn to play basketball with Iz. Yes, I actually involved other people in my list. Hahah. Just because he played it as in really played in a tournament. And since I never get the opportunity to watch the tournament. Tourney by tourney... Not even one. I work on weekends. EVERY WEEKEND. Plus, I've always thought of people who played basketball to be cool. And because of the most common perception that ONLY TALL people play basketball. Ah basically I just feel like learning because I think playing basketball is cool. I learnt a lot. Not only how to play basketball, but about keeping an OPEN MIND. And also about being a trainee, a student. I've always been the trainer, the one instructing, the one teaching. Stepping out of the car, hearing the sound of the ball bumping against the court (it's called dribbling by the way), I felt nervous already. ...

Volunteering for MYCAT at Zoo Negara

Image
Well so yesterday I managed to drive all by myself alone to KUALA LUMPUR oh yeahhhh! Alhamdulillah... First, mum trusted me. Second, I got the wrong Cheras junction but I made sure mum didn't know. Third, I didn't turn on the radio at all. Pergi balik zikir all the way. Sebab takut sesat dan eksiden. Berguna. Ya, betul berguna. Zikir. Truth is, I really wanted to take public transport so I have time to write my 2015 resolutions while in the train. *********** I was happy. Very happy to be at the zoo. A lot of things has changed. The Education Department Office is no longer at the very end, it is now in the same building with the Customer Service Department. Went to the guard house, parked at the staff parking lot. Heh. Heh. I am afterall a volunteer... I assured myself. I was all ready to walk to the ol' Edu office but then I was stopped by En. Amin. Then I noticed the signage. Ohh... The dusty ol' library is now the office. Told him I did my interns...
