KFC Buntong, Ipoh. Nice place.

Image
Sometimes, you just have to look up from your phone to discover amazing places. My husband, Sofia, and I were at Ipoh for a wedding. Arrived at the venue around 3pm and the event already ended (read: no more food). So we decided to get something to eat. Sofia fast asleep, my husband went out to buy food. Sofia on my lap, my eyes fixed on my phone, scrolling through Hanis Zalikha's Instagram; they went to Maldives, stayed at Soneva Jani. I Google-ed Soneva Jani first, oh in Maldives rupanya... Haha. Eventually, my husband came back to the car with food. And I finally looked up from my phone. While he was reversing the car, I spotted a very nice outdoor eating area. Wait? IS THAT KFC's EATING AREA? Cool gila KFC ni! They have an outdoor eating area with red patio umbrellas!  There were also a lot of pigeons eating, er.. KFC leftovers? Hahah. Anyway, we decided to just eat there. Sofia already woke up by the way (at the smell of food). Thinking it would be a great exp...

Nasi Bamboo Sungai Klah- Membungkus

Image
Nasi Bamboo Sungai Klah is a famous place in Sungkai, Perak (otw to Slim River). It is always jam packed EVERYTIME we pass by that area. Cars parked alongside the road despite them having a large parking space in front of it. Except on Fridays of course since it is closed. The day we went, Tuesday (29th August), there were still cars parked alongside the road but not as many as we've seen before. Tried our luck to park inside and Alhamdulillah ada.  Sofia was sleeping soundly in her carseat... Not wanting to waste a chance, we decided to just carry her inside. WOW! It is huge..! Imagine a foodcourt. Well, it IS like a foodcourt. There were separate counters for the nasi bamboo, lauk-pauk (there's even kambing bakar!), drinks, and also for goreng-gorengan like pisang goreng and keropok lekor. There is also a gift shop! Not really a physical store, but more like a booth.  Rice wrapped in a leaf in a bamboo. That's what you will get if you dine-in. One nasi bamb...

Impromptu trip to Sg. Petani with Sofia

Image
It was so tiring! Tiring for me, not Sofia, I guess. The next day she still had the energy to try rolling over some more... As for me, I had headache and stomach ache and a whole bundle of laundry to do. Never going on an impromptu trip as far as that ever again! Last Sunday morning, mum suddenly decided we should just go visit my Nenek Mah all the way in Hospital Sg. Petani there and then. I received a call the night before informing that she had been admitted to the ICU. I informed mum only the next morning. The plan was actually for mum to go by bus with my aunt on Monday but mum insisted we go that exact moment since we were all available because Iz works on Monday and I'll be left with the baby alone (but in the end Iz took a leave anyway). Managing our own business, we cancelled all classes on that day. I just told Sofia the night before that we wouldn't be going jalan-jalan anywhere today because mama got a lot of things to do. Wanted to clean the house that day...

Tiada yang mustahil di Semporna: My personal insight

Image
Pulau Bum-Bum, Semporna Too good to be true I thought it was a scam, until Tuah send me the ticket itinerary and Iz confirmed the ticket with AirAsia. Alhamdulillah. Ruang dan peluang, rezeki dan nikmat. IRenang got invited all the way to Semporna to conduct an aquatic therapy and swimming program for students in Pulau Bum-Bum, Semporna, Sabah . All four of us went to Semporna, all expenses paid for two . Y ou may read more details on the program at IRenang's blog . Tiada yang mustahil di Semporna... Is a tagline given by Tuah, a very dedicated teacher in SK Terusan Tengah who is in charge of this whole program. He rebranded his remedial class to Akademi IQ and conducted weekly weekend out of school program for his 11 students. Ours was the last session for the year 2016. His dedication, how he went out of his way for all his students might put some teachers to shame. I've never met a teacher so dedicated and committed as he is. 5 Days 4 Nights in Semporna....

MYCAT CAT Walk- The Journey to Merapoh

Image
And so, last weekend my best friend, Tita and I decided to go to Merapoh to save the tigers. Merapoh is in Pahang, by the way... In case you're like me; I really thought it's in Kelantan because it's near Gua Musang. Hopefully none of my lecturers are reading this... Such a shame for a tourism student! We joined a volunteering programme held by MYCAT (Malaysian Conservation Alliance for Tigers). MYCAT is an NGO in Malaysia aiming to save tigers from poaching and extinction. They have various programmes but the one we joined was their CAT Walk. CAT is a cool abbreviation for Citizen Action for Tigers in which WE as normal people can actually help save the tigers! They said 'Orang Kelantan ada dimana-mana...' Oh yes. From Kajang to Putrajaya to Putra to Gombak, finally the bus was full. And yeah you guessed it right; kecek Kelate all the way! Tupe bah... Pecoh.. Cabe... Caghi bah dulu... Depe... (Tumpang bas, pecah, cabang/ simpang, cari bas dulu, depan). And Ti...

Felda Palong Timur

If mum found out I went to Felda Palong Timur last Friday, I'm dead meat. If she found out I actually spend a night there, again, I AM TOTALLY DEAD! Grounded for life. No more trip, no more outing. Why? Because mum is very strict. And protective. Sangat. She wouldn't let me sleepover at just any place... I know mum wouldn't allow me, that's the main reason I didn't ask her in the first place. I didn't lie, either. She didn't ask, so I didn't tell. Easy. It happened so fast. It's a decision made in less than 5 minutes. The friend had to go back because her mums' having a kenduri. So the other friend decided to send her back. Her point to get me involved "Makan free, weh! Rugi..." Yeah right. Makan free meant paying RM 10 for petrol and another RM 10 for toll. -.-" But anyway... The accommodation is free, kan. Plus you get to eat how much you wanted too. And oh, you don't have to pay the driver. Hahah! So yeah, masih berjimat di...
