That makes two of us

Image
Mum send me this, which then I forwarded to my husband. He laughed and replied, "That makes two of us" Indeed. Clothes for Sofia keep on coming, either from friends, relatives, or even from us. We had to buy her new clothes or she would end up like a sarung nangka , like mum would call it.  Seriously, I read a lot of articles on things to get before the baby arrives but only one stated, BUY NEW CLOTHES FOR YOURSELF. I only found the article after I gave birth to Sofia, and seriously, that is the most useful advice I've ever known. Except the fact that I found out about it late. Gifts for the baby will keep on coming. Seriously, a lot of people came to visit but everything they brought was for the baby. Baby clothes, baby shampoo, baby socks, baby shoes, even pacifier. Oh, and diaper bag. Seriously, I had about 5 diaper bags.  What about the mother? Well, my mum bought me kain batik online. Just because during pantang I had to use hers. No I don't ...

Thank you, commentors

Just a short, quick, simple post. Typing this quickly so I can post it now and then (Sofia tidur). I still haven't replied to the comments on my previous posts but I already read each one of them. When it is published, that means that I have read it. Well, sometimes I already read it in my e-mail but haven't published it. My point is, I do read each one of the comments. And I really appreciate it. Being a first time mother, I find myself being confused and in doubt most of the time. Well, judging from my previous post (OMG I just love this kid); siapa yang tak sayang anak oi?! But, comments from the mothers I received actually kept me sane. There were full time stay at home mothers, full time working mothers, part time working mothers, and even mothers who are studying (hi, dorsett pink!). And there were also those who send their children to nurseries, those who dropped their children off at their parents' house, and those who simply stay at home and care for t...

OMG I just love this kid

Sofia came down with fever the day after we met Zamani. We (Iz and I) took her to the clinic for a shot on her left thigh the next morning. We should have let her rest since she just had a tiring day the day before, but I was afraid we might delay the check up too long. And, we should have let her rest after the check up as well but we brought her along to the market since my mum wanted to go. But we did ask the doctor whether it is okay to take her out after getting the shot. Back from the market, we brought her to KLIA pulak to send my mil for umrah. We were trying to please everyone... Right after sending my mil to the gate, Sofia started crying. And she cried all the way until the carpark, into the car where I immediately nursed her. Iz dropped us home and went straight to work. I was nursing Sofia when I realized her body was warmer than usual. Mum came to check and said memang panas betul ni. Her temperature was high, 38°C. Memang panas. Kepala, tangan, badan... And that was...

Bye bread mixer

Image
My younger brother has been bugging mum about the old bread mixer stuck at the corner of our house. "Mak, mixer tu kat situ dari hari nikah kakak lagi" "Hah, sampailah ke hari nikah kau pulak..." Spot on, mum. Spot on. So, we made arrangements with Mr Tan paper lama kau kau pu cik. He promised to come another day along with his son. The mixer was so heavy it needed three person to carry it to the lorry. My younger brother and I were so relieved to see it finally go. Not really sure about mum though (kenangan masa buka bakeri dulu). We received only RM 20 for everything except the aquarium and Mici the cat. No one really mind about the amount, actually. In fact, we almost forgot about taking the money.  Mr Tan's comment, "Nak buang barang pun susah... Hahaha"

We went to two makan-makan events last week but I came home starving. One thing that I learnt was never expect to eat a lot when you brought along your 5 months old baby. My parents-in-law organized a makan-makan event at their house because my mother-in-law was going for Umrah. I could have ate a lot there because Sofia seemed fine; a lot of familiar faces, but then I was saving my perut for the other event.  The other event was a wedding reception held at a restaurant, Satay Station at Ampang Waterfront. Honestly, I actually expected the area to be a bit like Kinta Riverfront with nice decorations and all but oh well... Tak apalah. Hahaha. Anyway, it was so crowded with so many guests and I actually felt like I was in a concert instead of a wedding reception. Tapi ternyata memang banyak makanan... While searching for a place to eat, we passed by people with Drumstick/ Cornetto ice creams in their hand, lamb chop, apam balik mini, cendol, nasi minyak, sup daging, and of...

Bila baru boleh dating?

We were just chilling tiga beranak one night when suddenly Iz said, "Dah lama kita tak dating berdua kan?"  Sofia was already fast asleep, by the way. So basically she didn't hear that. Karang merajuk pulak... I just kept quiet while he seemed to be thinking hard. "Takpe, agak-agak Sofia dah boleh jaga diri sendiri bolehla kita tinggalkan kejap dengan Opah dia" I still keep quiet, trying to absorb his idea and think whether it is possible. "Agak-agak umur 7 tahun bolehla kut... Masa tu kita baru 30 lebih, kira okay la nak gi tengok movie ke apa. Kan?" Still thinking... Yes, we'll be about 35 years old by then. Not too old. Still energetic to go on dates and all. But oh. Finally I replied... "Itu kalau anak sorang. How many do you want? Katala 3 eh. Yang bongsu umur 7 tahun. Gap 3 tahun. 7 tambah 3 tambah 3. 13 tahun lah lagi..." And during kursus kahwin he actually told the ustaz that he wanted 11.

Laksa sarawak my way

Image
"Tengok tu Sofia, mama tengah ambik gambar mi udang" And I gave him the look... It's not mi udang. It's LAKSA SARAWAK. Just that I altered it a bit. Okay lah I might altered it a lil bit too much. On the way to Sungai Siput, we dropped by at UTC Perak to change Sofia's diapers. Yeah it's always change Sofia's diapers. Nowadays jarangnya to eat or to have a drink. Since the nursing room was occupied, we decided to have a walk around. Sofia was more interested in our colourful umbrella though... Dah alang-alang singgah why not buy something for mum. There were a lot of local products like kerepek daun kesum and many other kerepek, but then I've always wanted to try cooking Laksa Sarawak. So I bought this Hj Manan Laksa Sarawak paste for about RM 6.50 kalau tak silap. The first time I tried eating Laksa Sarawak was in Seri Kembangan. Not in Sarawak. Oh, Laksa Sarawak Kak Yun yang sangat kaw dan sedap... Kak Yun is my colleague way back wh...

Entering 2017

Image
Sebenarnya I already wrote a post on Sunday morning, 1st January 2017, but I didn't get to complete it because well, Sofia woke up already. So here I am rewriting about my new year. The new year night I only get to hear the sound of fireworks. Yes, hear... I was wide awake, lying down while nursing Sofia. A very crucial moment to get her to sleep (more crucial than any other day) as she had been having a bit of a tantrum earlier. The second time for today, actually. I'll post about the first tantrum earlier during the day later. The situation was almost similar to what we faced during the impromptu trip to Penang. She was so restless she wouldn't sleep and calm down. But this time it was just Iz, Sofia, and I. The three of us spend the night at Summit Signature in Slim River. It was a prompt decision made by my husband as we were still on the road at 6pm and we still have about 2 hours journey back home. Not so prompt I guess. Iz seemed well prepared with extra cloth...

I kept this in a box. Baru-baru ni berkemas, mum took it out and washed it. Okay lah, simpanlah simpan... Mum graduated from UiTM, too. Usaha takwa mulia...

New year ramblings

Image
It's already 3rd January 2017 and I still haven't listed out my 101 things to do in 2017. Dah bazir 3 hari.... Aih. Well, last year I managed to complete 38 things. A HUGE ACHIEVEMENT, okay, considering the fact that in 2015 I only managed 16. But I've decided for this year I'm going to target less on materials; buying GoPro and Macbook, among the 63 things I didn't get to complete in 2016 so bye bye to that. I also read in Dr. Halina's blog about goals and how to achieve those goals. It is true what she mentioned. We got to have a plan to work for it. Like me, last year I planned on buying loads of things but I forgot the fact that last year I'm pregnant and I'll be giving birth around August (ended up I gave birth earlier) which means that I couldn't work as hard as before to gain more money to buy stuffs. I decided this year I'm going to be more realistic. Like, hello hello hello... You have little miss Sofia now. Oh by the way, I...
