Keeping memories

Image
Sofia's pictures (and videos) took up a whole lot of space in my phone! Although I already had them all backed up in Google Photos, but still sayang to delete them from my phone. And honestly, I'm a bit paranoid of storing pictures online. I'm afraid I might forgot the password, or even my username. Hahaha... Yes I uploaded a lot of pictures on Instagram... Until one day Iz's friend told him, your wife uploaded a lot of pictures of your baby eh. Baby sihat? Coz Iz didn't have Instagram, so basically his friends would tag me to get him.  I've been thinking of tagging Sofia's pictures with #nurkhairahsofia; I searched and so far there isn't any similar tags, but I didn't quite like the idea of having to see Sofia's pictures on screen. Okay senang cerita I'm the ol' skool type. Nak printed. Really keen on photobook, but felt like a bit of a waste to order now as Sofia is only nearing 3 months. Plus I'm not used to getting ...

Rindu. Nak dekat 3 bulan tak minum oiii.....

Being mum

I used to complain at my mum for using the money I gave her on my brothers' stuffs. Not like they didn't have money ke apa, just that sometimes, well you know boys, they don't shop around much. Selagi boleh pakai, pakai... The money was meant for her to buy her own stuff, but no. She spend it on us, including me, sometimes. Leaving me a bit frustrated. Belilah barang untuk diri sendiri... Ish. She said she chose to do that. It is how she wanted to spend it. Yesterday, I received my portion from the latest class. I spent 60% of it on Sofia's clothes. What is this.

Rock-a-bye Sofia

FINALLY.  Degil tak nak dengar cakap orang tua-tua... Mum, mother-in-law, and my aunt have been telling us to get a swing/ hammock for Sofia tapi degil tak nak... Terpengaruh dengan orang cakap konon selalu dibuaikan masa kecil, dah besar nanti selalu terbuai-buai perasaan. Heh.  It has been more than a week of inefficiency in doing household chores and office works, that I finally gave in. Asal letak je nangis, asal letak je nangis... I didn't do the laundry, didn't cook, didn't update my blog, didn't update IRenang's page... Got a bit stressed out that I told mum I wanted to resign from IRenang. Resign from your own family business? Haha. So mum went out to buy lauk (ye tak masak) and came home with a pink baby hammock. Secretly objecting but at the same time I was curious whether it will work. For the first few minutes she just stared at us, most probably thinking what the heck is this. Then mum started singing and rocking her back and forth...

Girls' nite out

It has been a very busy and stressful week for the seven of us. Eventhough we weren’t of the same course, we face pretty much the same thing. Assignments have to be submitted and at the same time we were bombarded with tons of quizzes and tests.  We were already exhausted by mid week, but the thought of having a girls’ only night out on Friday kept us going. The thought of having fun shopping, watching movie all night, and eating until we burst helped us a lot in keeping our mind sound for the whole week. By Friday afternoon, all of us achieved our ultimate independence. Well, not until at least the next two weeks. But that would be another story. Cutting things short, we set off in two cars at about 6pm. Our first destination was OCEAN, a mall in Melaka Raya. This was for the purpose of fulfilling the needs of one of our drivers. This might seem illogical, but we actually spend almost two hours searching for ‘one’ handphone! We were, of course, only students who depend on...

Taking Sofia to visit Tok Abah and Opah

Image
Last Saturday, ummi invited us over to makan-makan at their house. Since Sofia hasn't been sleeping much during the day, we decided let's just go. Sana ada ramai yang boleh layan dia... Hahaha! But honestly, other than that, I just feel that we should go visit them. Ever since I gave birth to Sofia, it has always been them coming over. Plus, ummi has been asking in our whatsapp group, so I guessed she must be really hoping for us to be there. #menantubaik I gave Iz one condition, though. Get a baby car seat first. We ended going anyway, baby car seat or no baby car seat. Iz said Sofia is only 2 months, she couldn't even sit. So how can she sit in a car seat? This newbie mother agreed. Betul jugak kan. Hahaha. But then my mum said we could simply adjust the seat so that the baby will not sit too upright. Oh. No baby car seat, I  simply held her against my chest while sitting at the back seat the whole way to KL. At first her head stuck up; eager and excited to w...

A new name Iz gave to Sofia. Konon macam special sikit la tu... Hahah.

Sofia's new sleeping pattern

Image
For the past three days, Sofia has been sleeping more at night and less during the day. Today , she didn't sleep at all! From 7am to about 6pm. Only took a nap for about 10 to 15 minutes and that was it. At 2pm when I thought she'd sleep, she decided she wanted to have a chit chat with mama instead. I was like, seriously Sofia? You wanna have a talk at this hour? Tengahari buta ni? Because for the past two days after azan Zohor she would sleep already. Since she wouldn't sleep, I decided to play around with her. Wrapped a shawl around her and take pictures. Lay her on the sofa and take pictures. Put a necklace on top of her head and take pictures. It has always been 9pm when she woke up and will only go to sleep at around 2am. It's 9.23pm now and she's sleeping. At 9pm earlier she was already going uh ah uh ah but we just waited. Well she went back to sleep haha. One thing remained, though. She must bathe two times a day. Hahah. Before this her bath ...

New lunch box

Image
Husband whatsapp me this picture. And I just posted about preparing him sushi for lunch a year ago. Angkara tikus atau tupai? One thing for sure, gotta get him a new lunch box. This lunch box brought back a lot of memories, though. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want a replacement. This lunch box was actually one of the many first things we bought after marriage. And I must say, it was something Iz put on the top of his list on Things To Buy After Getting Married. I know it's not because he couldn't afford it ke apa, but because he wanted his wife to pack him lunch to work, just like his mother used to do for his father. Him sending me this picture, plus Facebook reminding me of preparing him sushi for lunch a year ago, made me reminisce on the good ol' days of struggling trying to be a good wife. Now terus tak jadi merajuk lama-lama. HAHA busted merajuk.

Wordless Wednesday: Sushi day

Monday used to be sushi day. Has been a year since I last prepared sushi for Iz.

Burping Sofia

Image
Sofia spits up on my shoulder and I'm happy! Even the sour smell makes me happy! Sofia is an infrequent burper. It took us ages to burp her. And when she does burp, it's usually the cute one, not the monstrous one. I know it is important to burp her after each feeding but I rarely succeed. I would usually pass her to Iz or my mum to burp her. Because like I said, it took ages and I rarely succeed in making her burp. Last night, my best friend who's a houseman training in the paediatric department came to visit. After nursing Sofia, I simply laid her on my bed. Being a doctor in training, and a caring bestie, she asked haven't I burped her? Told her ah it's just a quick one, no need to burp kut... And she went on about how important it is to burp a baby. One of the points is so they can sleep well. Sleep well? Bingo! Teach me, teach me! And so she taught me to cup my hand. All these while we would just rub her back, up down up down. So she taught me to c...

Mommy's angst

Image
Watching Sofia sleep soundly, I can't believe I actually felt like shutting her up with a pillow earlier. Ambil bantal tekup muka dia biar senyap. The struggle is real.   Why do people posts only cute pictures of their baby? Why not share a video of them wailing and screaming? Well, because they are busy calming their babies. That's why. Huh. And a baby wailing is not a cute sight.  I thought we had the wildest night when she only went to sleep before Subuh. Oh no, no, no. Last night. Well, last night she didn't sleep at all. She finally sleep at 9 am! I was nursing her at about 7.30 am when she suddenly cried, and we had to give her formula milk. While waiting for mum preparing the formula milk, she kept on wailing and crying I really feel like shutting her with a pillow! Senyap lah sabar boleh tak! Instead, I looked away from her and istighfar. Let her scream let her cry, I just looked away pekakkan telinga. Heart racing, trying to calm myself down. When...

First mall experience with Sofia

Image
Not so much of a  mall pun... TESCO je... Hahah. Sofia jalan-jalan a lot last Sunday! In the morning we took her to the clinic to get her two months injection, and in the evening we went sightseeing. After dropping off mum at Bukit Mahkota Clubhouse, we got about two hours to spare. Iz was like, what can we do in TESCO for two hours? The most we could spend there is 30 minutes, kut . Man, oh man. We can do a lot in TESCO for two hours! We can buy groceries, get Sofia (and I) new clothes, find miscellaneous stuffs at MR. DIY, and have a drink at the foodcourt. HAHA. Guess I was being too ambitious. I am so glad I followed Iz's plan. This man is so realistic. We went sightseeing for the first one hour plus; only stayed in the car as Iz drove around Bandar Seri Putra and Bangi Avenue (Bangi Wonderland Themepark and Resort is huge!). Sofia? Well, she slept the whole time on my lap. I was really excited when we finally get to TESCO. Again, HAHA. Iz was kind enough to help ...

My flax seed (LENNART Drawer Unit-IKEA)

Image
So I bought two LENNART drawer units  from IKEA. Priced at RM34.90 per unit, I bought two as the personal shopper offered a discount on her service. Usually she charged RM10 per unit, but if we buy two, the service charge is only RM15. It was my first time dealing with a personal shopper and I LOVE IT. Hehehe... I can get used to this. I needed storage for Sofia's tiny clothes and all those boots and mittens. I didn't expect the drawer unit to be small, in the picture it looks quite large (padahal dah tulis width 30cm, depth 34cm, height 56cm). But it is just nice, I think. If it is too big, it'll take up more space. Just nice. Not too bulky, plus it has two tiny wheels at one side. The most I love about it is it's colour. I've always liked white furnitures, it looks clean. I use the other one to store our daily shoes. Not much can be fit in but at least the shoes are not creating any mess. I still had to keep my heels in a cupboard. We didn't have...

Wild night

Iz and I had a wild night last night, di ambang hijrah. Sofia wouldn't sleep. From about 9pm, until Subuh. We tried all sorts of things, some failed some was a new discovery; she didn't like darkness . We fed her (both bf and fm), changed her diaper, her mittens (the right side got wet coz she kept sucking it), slower down the aircond, from pangku on arms to pangku on shoulder... We even washed air yassin over her face and tummy. It was so intense and tiring coz she kept on crying and when she wasn't crying, her eyes were wide open like it's 9am instead of 9pm! Seriously, I couldn't believe it when I heard recitation of Quran from the surau near our house (almost Subuh maknanya). I'm a loser when it comes to staying up. Alhamdulillah, Iz is such a patient and understanding person he lets me take a short nap now and then while he tries to calm Sofia. In the morning when recalling the night event, Iz said, "Don't mention it". Heheh... A...
