Aku Anak Perempuan.

Image
Of being a daughter. My mum, I believe, has a unique way of bringing up her one and only daughter. (In a good way lah)  Instead of bringing me to boutiques, jewellery shops, spas, and other womanish womanish shops, she brought me to hardware shops, tile outlets, and other manly manly shops. Instead of bringing me to shop for make ups, clothes, and handbags, she brought me to buy tiles, hammer, wood planks, nails, bolts and nuts, PVC pipes, and tiles. We renovated and repaired our house ourselves.  (We changed our bathroom tiles ourselves too.) Bukti Kereta penuh dengan pasir kasar , pasir halus , dan simen . Instead of kasut tinggi, tas tangan, dan gaun berlabuci. Early in the morning today (Sunday), she took me along to our neighbours' house to do plumbing. And let me do it. Oh yea. She could have asked my  brothers to do it but no, she took me along. Her one and only daughter. Anak gadis sunti ini... Oh yea, so my mum changed the...

Perasan Hebak

Image
*Perasan Hebat * Being frequent customers at hardware shops, my mum and I believe we are oh-so-great and fit enough to be called contractor s. Plumbing, wiring, woodworks... Name it, we can do it! At the hardware shop yesterday, this one man was looking for a grass trimmer. Man: Mesin rumput pakai bateri ada tak?   (Is there a lawn trimmer that use batteries? ) Salesperson: Tak ada encik, yang ni adalah. Pakai kat belakang. (We only have this one, you have to wear it on your back)   The salesperson showed him this one grass trimmer, mesin potong rumput gendong , they called it. The one you see carried on their backs, with a long pole. My mum and I had a great laugh thinking there IS NO such thing as a grass trimmer that use batteries. ALL grass trimmers use electricity (including ours). Duh! We really, really had a great laugh.  Like, "Eeeyew... Dah la lelaki, itu pun tak tahu~" "Nak potong rumput kat ma...

Why UiTM Perlis?

Image
UiTM Perlis is opening it's doors to Bachelor of Sports Science students this coming semester (September). The closing date for application is 23rd August 2011. Honestly, I could't help but feel a strong urge to transfer there. Just for the sake of experience. *Ahem* Okay, for the sake of getting more freedom, actually. The further from home the better... Ahah! Plus, I'm thinking about a change of environment. Starting all fresh in a new place, new environment. BUT. There's one thing I needed to confirm first. Is there a swimming pool at the campus? I asked a friend and he told me to Google myself. Ceh. Not helping. I didn't have a clear picture of UiTM Perlis so I keep on wondering if studying there is actually better. I keep on wondering is this UiTM Perlis a new branch campus or what? I've been to UiTM Arau before but I've never been to UiTM Perlis. Think... Think... Think... Oh. Such a bimbo. UiTM Arau IS UiTM Perli...

Cucu Jiran

Mum said I should get married soon since I'm starting to like children. (Though I believe marriage is not the only way to get children. You can always adopt a child, or work in a kindergarten like this one girl, Sarah, is doing. ) Mum notice I'd always smile at the sight of my neighbours' grandchildren coming back from kindergarten with their mini backpack. And based on how I teach children swimming .  Comel :) Kids love me, so should I . I denied, saying I only like children who behave . For me, they are still those tiny creatures who couldn't stay still longer than a minute. They are like those tiny crawly things, menguit-nguit.  Basically, a dream child for me would be the one who: Would sit quietly when their parents are performing the  tarawih  prayer, instead of running behind people's back while at the same time tugging at other people's  telekung . huh. Would not simply grab a stranger's shirt, particularly a woman. Wou...

When You're Old

Selamat berpuasa.  The last two/three nights ago, the  tazkirah  was done after Isyak prayer, before  solat tarawikh.   (before this usually the tazkirah is after 8 rakaat but maybe because after 8 rakaat the mosque is half empty already so the  ustaz  decided to give tazkirah after Isyak... Good strategy!) So we have no choice except to sit and listen, unless we came just to perform our Isyak prayer.  -.-" There was this one quote: "...tidak pasti lagi Ramadhan seterusnya kita akan berada disini lagi atau tidak." (not sure yet whether next Ramadhan we'll still be here or not) I've heard that quote a whole load of time but somehow last night it really hit me. Real hard. It suddenly sparks a great interest. Maybe because of age factor, so I began to take things seriously. Anyhow, I really did think hard about it... I still think about it now and then. Whether or not I'll still be alive next Ramadhan I don't know.  Before this I...

Why Men Cheat.

Image
Curang. Not based on my experience , but based on what I got from the Oprah Winfrey TV show , as stated by M. Gary Neuman . Well just in case anyone gets offended after reading this post. Ha-ha. Somehow I found his points quite reliable, and logical. So I thought, yeah, why not share it on the blog right? Because we could never run away from love. I know, I know this is a bit cheesy but come on, everyone wants a happy ending... So yeah, read on! *Yes yes I know and am aware of the case of  our footballer  breaking off his engagement... But no, I'm not writing this post because of that okayy... Kebetulan pula tengok TV show Oprah kan... WHY MEN CHEAT. Cheating much? Okay, so you just found out your man cheated on you. You consulted your best buddies... Your friend(s) said you're prettier than the other woman. Your friend(s) said you're smarter than the other woman. In short, YOU ARE MUCH BETTER than the other woman! And so you began to wonder. Are my friend(s) ...

Cuti Sebulan Sepanjang Ramadhan

Salam Ramadhan. :) This is the month that I've been waiting for so long. Why? Because it's the time of the year where I can't teach swimming. It's makruh to be in the water for too long while fasting so, no can do. No swimming classes during Ramadhan. One whole month to rest.  And to get back my not-so-fair skin complexion. I got a bit (a lot actually, 3 tones darker) sunburned as a result of teaching at an open swimming pool. First day of fasting started yesterday (Monday), but on Sunday morning my mum and I were still at the pool, teaching swimming. When everyone else were busy preparing for Ramadhan, we were still working... Everyone else, I believe balik kampung already. Everyone was busy preparing for puasa , cleaning up their house and all, while we had to work. The whole week before first Ramadhan, we (my mum and I) had classes everyday. I would teach on Monday and mum would teach on Tuesday. And I'll be teaching the next day. Everyday until ...
