Of being a career woman

I guess going to work is part of growing up, huh? Throughout my student years, I'm always doing part-time jobs. But this time it's just different . Because now working is like really, really working. A REAL job. Like I have a boss, for real. Still adapting to this new environment, yes. And I just hope I could adapt fast.

On being your own normal self

I used to love being independent. Sometimes I like to take a longer route just so I'd have a longer time for myself... I've tried walking to class in groups before. Most of the time I'd grumble and complain. And almost swear I'd never wait for people anymore. I like to be independent. Now, I got what I want. Stuck in a place away from home. I only rent a room. I'm totally independent now. On my own. For the past 5 weeks, I really depend on a friend to drive me here and there. I have a Competent driving license but I proudly stick P on the car windows. Just now, somehow there was a misunderstanding between the friend and I. I stomped off and thought, okay you can go back on your own and I'll take home the car. CONFIDENCE. So confident I'll be able to drive the car back home. Well, the guy managed to catch up before I leave him. Either that, or I'm the one that took so long to start moving the car... All that aside, I managed to drive home.

It's about being strict

I've started doing an internship about a month ago. I'm also conducting my research here. Most of my patients are men and as a subject, they have access and are   allowed to contact me. Well, regarding only research matters, that is. One night, I received a phone call. One of my patients. A male. He asked where am I and what I'm doing at the moment. I answered with, "Itu semua tak penting. Yang penting sekarang, kenapa ye telefon?" It's about being strict and direct. No hanky panky.

Being Angelina Jolie

Kalau bukan tentang bibir dia, mesti tentang kerja amal. If not because of her lips, it must be because of the many charity works that she has done.  I feel like Angelina Jolie.  For the second reason, though. I don't have lips like those... Well recently, I volunteered for WWF Malaysia (World Wide Fund for Nature). They were having an outreach for Orang Asli @ indigenous people in Malaysia and needed volunteers to assist them. I must say I'm not a newbie in volunteering but it was my first time volunteering for WWF. I've volunteered twice for MYCAT (Malaysian Conservation Alliance for Tigers) before. So basically, I've volunteered only 3 times. Not Angelina Jolie enough, huh? Hahah... Unlike the outreaches conducted by MYCAT, this one by WWF was a tad different. Instead of approaching locals to give awareness on the wildlife, WWF organized an event for them while at the same time give awareness to them on the wildlife. A bigger challeng...

Menjadi adik

I've always been the big sister, the kakak.  I'm always the one who have to take care of, not the one to be taken care of. I have one elder brother and a younger brother. Squashed in the middle, I held a bigger responsibility as the elder sister compared to the younger sister. However, things were different during this one volunteer program I joined recently. I wasn't the youngest in the group, neither was I the eldest. Let's just say I'm the third youngest in the group. But, somehow they actually treated me like I'm the youngest, the one they have to really take care of. They always said I'm still a kid. Just because I told them the first night at the hotel I actually turned on all the lights because I was scared of sleeping alone (the tv was on the whole night, too). It's a weird feeling. I feel young, though. Ha-ha.

Letting Go

I have a problem of letting go of things. Suka sangat menyimpan barang-barang lama... I still have my assignments during diploma days, in which I already graduated from 2 years ago. Yes, I'm pursuing a degree now but this degree is a new field. A totally different field... I still have a folder in my laptop written 'DIPLOMA IN TOURISM MANAGEMENT'. I've decided to clean it up but I couldn't bring myself to clean it ALL up. It's taking a lot of disk space, I know... But it's just so hard to let go. I'm the type who like to reflect back at the old times. I like to look back and remind myself of the good ol' days. Sometimes for hours... And this is not good. Not good, I know. I'm actually detaching myself from the present, and even future. We should think forward, and reflect back now and then to remind us. Not look back and stay there, like what I'm doing now. So hereby I'm declaring that I'm deleting the diploma folder. But I...

Keluar exam awal

(Leaving the examination hall early) 5 years studying in university, I admit to leaving the examination hall early before time; not more than 5 times. But I admit to taking a nap during the examination quite a lot of times; more than 5 times. I don't know about you, but for most of my friends, and I, we would look up at those who leave the examination early. Like, "Hebat gila keluar awal.... Perggh!"  (toleh-toleh kepala ke belakang merelakan pemergian si hero/ heroin exam) Well, basically because you must be very confident of your answers, right? Right.  My teacher always advice us, back in the school days. Don't leave the exam hall before time. Always check, and check, and check your answers. And I believe in that. Because we are just human and human makes mistakes.  I certainly have no problem with these early leavers, except that I kind of got a bit psyched and annoyed when loads and loads of them started leaving. I'd think "Do I look st...
