Laksa sarawak my way

"Tengok tu Sofia, mama tengah ambik gambar mi udang"

And I gave him the look... It's not mi udang. It's LAKSA SARAWAK. Just that I altered it a bit. Okay lah I might altered it a lil bit too much.

On the way to Sungai Siput, we dropped by at UTC Perak to change Sofia's diapers. Yeah it's always change Sofia's diapers. Nowadays jarangnya to eat or to have a drink. Since the nursing room was occupied, we decided to have a walk around. Sofia was more interested in our colourful umbrella though... Dah alang-alang singgah why not buy something for mum. There were a lot of local products like kerepek daun kesum and many other kerepek, but then I've always wanted to try cooking Laksa Sarawak. So I bought this Hj Manan Laksa Sarawak paste for about RM 6.50 kalau tak silap.

The first time I tried eating Laksa Sarawak was in Seri Kembangan. Not in Sarawak. Oh, Laksa Sarawak Kak Yun yang sangat kaw dan sedap... Kak Yun is my colleague way back when I worked in this one private school for 6 months, not a restaurant okay. Don't go search Laksa Sarawak Kak Yun pulak. She's a Sarawakian. Oh by the way, the day I gave birth to Sofia, she buat open house and ada Laksa Sarawak. I received a message while in labor.

One of my 101 things to do in 2017; cook at least 10 new recipes. Padahal dah masak baru nak tulis dalam buku, jadikan ini 101 things to do. Hahaha.

Making Laksa Sarawak sangat renyah. Yes the kuah memang senang but the condiments sangat banyak... You have telur goreng potong panjang-panjang, udang rebus, ayam rebus, fishcake, fishball, sambal belacan, limau kasturi, taugeh...

The intructions on the packaging was clear enough tapi I gatal tambah and ended up confused myself because I wanted something that tasted like Kak Yun's. Apparently at the packet was written air kosong 1 liter. Kak Yun said she added in the shrimp and chicken stock (setelah rebus). This Semenanjung noob put both 1 liter of water AND air rebusan udang. A bit smart to take out a cup of water out from the plain 1 liter water, though. But still cair la adoih... Basically, it turned out okay but tak sepower Kak Yun's.

I couldn't recall whether it is eaten with mihun or spaghetti. Oh rupanya yang spaghetti tu Laksa Johor... Hahaha! But I ended up using mee instead as my mum didn't really like mihun. Plus... I wasn't confident the family would eat it sampai habis so kalau letak mihun banyak sangat sepeket tu. Mi kurang sikit...

And I added in lots of tahu and fishcake inside the kuah. Padahal the kuah should be plain je. Again, confidence issue here... Takut kuah tak sedap so cover up dengan benda-benda lain.

Oh well, at least I tried.
